The Thule Shield Backpack is a waterproof bag that can serve as a rucksack as well as pannier bag, and converts easily and seamlessly so that you don't get caught on any (hard) fastenings when using it off the bike. With a volume of 23 litres and an IPX4 waterproof rating, a sealed zip and welded seams, the Shield backpack keeps your belongings dry in rain and snow or when subjected to road spray.
Laptops up to 16 inches are safe and secure inside the bag's padded compartment, and your essentials are within easy reach in the water-resistant outer pocket. Reflective piping on the sides, front and back increases your visibility while cycling. When you take the bag off your bike, simply pull the rucksack straps out to carry the bag on your back, or put them away into the rear pocket and use the handles to carry it by hand.

InLock mounting system
Slide the bag onto the mounting frame and click into place for a rattle-free ride. Pull the webbing tab to release the bag just as quickly.
Hardware-free design
As there are no protruding hooks or fasteners on the back of the bag, you can carry it comfortably as a rucksack, by the handle, or over your shoulder once you have removed it from the bike.

- Any luggage rack already fitted to your bike, and fitted with the Thule InLock Universal Panel
- Any generation of Thule Tour Rack
Not compatible with:
- A luggage rack without the InLock Universal Panel; without this panel, you cannot attach the bag to the bike.

How to attach the Thule Shield Backpack to your bike
- Make sure the Thule InLock Universal Panel is already fitted to your bike's luggage rack or Thule Tour Rack.
- Slide the Thule Shield Backpack onto the mounting frame.
- Click the bag into place.
- Pull the webbing tab to release the bag when you want to remove it from the bike.
- Tuck the rucksack straps into the back pocket while cycling, and pull them out when you want to carry the bag as a backpack.
- Use the water-resistant outer pocket for storage of items you want to access quickly, such as your phone or wallet.
- Remember to order the InLock Universal Panel as well if you cannot yet attach the bag to your luggage rack.
Do I need any other parts to attach the Thule Shield Backpack to my bike?
Yes, you will need the Thule InLock Universal Panel to attach the bag to your bike's luggage rack. This panel is not included when you buy the bag on its own, and you will need to order it separately.
Is the Thule Shield Backpack waterproof?
